HP Laser 1008w Wireless Monochrome Laser Printer Listed at ₹9,386 on Amazon India

At a glance

HP's Laser 1008w is a compact single-function monochrome laser printer with Wi-Fi and USB 2.0 connectivity, aimed at home and small-office users. It is advertised at ₹9,386 on Amazon India against a stated MRP of ₹15,840 — roughly 41% off — with the listing noting the price depends on a coupon combined with an SBI credit-card discount. Amazon's product page currently shows the printer in stock, though the buybox price we could observe was ₹11,429, so the advertised figure likely requires the card offer to reach.

Product overview

The HP Laser 1008w is a no-frills mono laser built for document printing rather than scanning or copying — there is no scanner on board. It prints at up to 21 pages per minute at 600 x 600 dpi, holds 150 sheets in the input tray, and supports standard sizes such as A4, A5 and B5. Wireless printing works over Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct, with control via an app on iOS and Android, and HP rates it for a 10,000-page monthly duty cycle. The bundled black cartridge is rated at roughly 1,500 pages, and HP includes a one-year warranty. At about 4.2 kg and 33 cm wide, it fits comfortably on a desk.

Reasons to consider

• The advertised ₹9,386 is an aggressive price for a Wi-Fi-enabled HP mono laser if the coupon and card discount stack as described.
• Laser printing keeps per-page costs low for text-heavy households or a small office.
• Wi-Fi Direct and app control make phone printing straightforward without a PC.
• Compact footprint and a 150-sheet tray suit light-to-moderate daily use.

Pros and cons

Pros

• Confirmed in stock on Amazon India with an observable buybox price of ₹11,429
• Wireless plus USB 2.0 connectivity; up to 21 ppm print speed
• Low running costs typical of mono lasers; 1,500-page starter cartridge
• One-year HP warranty

Cons

• The advertised ₹9,386 could not be confirmed at checkout; it reportedly needs a coupon plus an SBI credit-card discount, so buyers without SBI cards may pay more
• Print-only — no scanner or copier, unlike slightly pricier MFP models
• Mono only; no colour printing
• Duplex is listed as auto/manual in the specs, so double-sided printing may need manual handling

Buyer fit

A good fit for students, home users and small offices that mainly print text documents and want wireless convenience at a low upfront cost. Less suitable if you need scanning/copying, colour output, or heavy duplex workloads — in those cases a mono MFP or a duplex-capable model is worth the extra spend.

Final verdict

The HP Laser 1008w is a solid budget mono laser, and Amazon confirms it is in stock. However, the headline ₹9,386 price is an advertised figure we could not verify on the product page — the observed buybox price was ₹11,429, and reaching the lower amount appears to require a coupon plus an SBI credit-card discount. If you hold an eligible SBI card and can stack the offers, this is a strong buy; otherwise treat ₹11,429 as the realistic price and decide on that basis.
