Product overview

Designed for daily utility, this Amazon Basics flash drive features a sleek metallic body designed to withstand routine wear and tear. The built-in key ring loop allows users to attach the drive directly to keychains, backpacks, or lanyards, making it convenient to carry around without losing track of your data.

With 64 GB of storage space, it holds thousands of photos, documents, and music tracks. However, buyers should note that it operates on the USB 2.0 standard. While USB 2.0 ensures broad plug-and-play compatibility across older and newer PCs, laptops, and multimedia systems, transfer speeds will be noticeably slower compared to modern USB 3.0 or USB 3.2 drives, particularly when transferring large HD video files or bulk data backups.

Why consider it

• Durable Build: The metal finish provides improved resilience over standard plastic thumb drives.
• Convenient Portability: Built-in key ring hole prevents accidental loss during daily transit.
• Universal Compatibility: USB 2.0 interface works seamlessly across legacy hardware and modern operating systems without driver installation.
• Decent Storage: 64 GB provides ample room for essential documents, presentations, and light media collections.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Sturdy and compact metal construction.
• Convenient key ring design for easy carrying.
• Plug-and-play functionality across standard USB-A ports.

Cons:

• USB 2.0 speeds limit fast file transfer for large files.
• Metal casing can become warm during extended usage.

Who should buy it

This flash drive is ideal for students, office workers, or anyone who needs a portable secondary drive for text documents, PDFs, basic photos, and software installers. It is less suitable for users who regularly transfer large 4K video files or large software games, who would benefit more from a USB 3.0 or higher drive.

Final verdict

If you need a sturdy, highly portable 64 GB flash drive for routine document storage and light everyday use, the Amazon Basics metal pen drive at ₹699 is a practical pick. However, if fast data transfer speeds are a priority, consider upgrading to a USB 3.0 flash drive instead.
