Product overview

The Smart Tank 589 is HP's refillable ink-tank all-in-one for homes and small offices. It prints at up to 12 ppm in black and 5 ppm in colour, with a first-page-out time as fast as 14 seconds. Paper handling covers a 100-sheet input tray and 30-sheet output tray, supporting A4, B5, A6, DL envelope and legal sizes. A 1.2-inch icon LCD with a 33-segment display handles day-to-day controls. It ships with HP GT53/GT53XL black and GT52 cyan, magenta and yellow ink bottles, and wireless printing works over WiFi alongside USB 2.0.

Reasons to consider

• Ink-tank design with thousands of pages of ink in the box keeps running costs low for frequent printers.
• Print, scan and copy in one unit covers typical home-office needs without extra hardware.
• WiFi printing means phones and laptops can print without cabling.
• Amazon India shows the product in stock with fulfilled delivery, and a one-year HP warranty is included.

Pros and cons

Pros

• Very low cost per page versus cartridge printers
• All-in-one scan and copy with a flatbed scanner
• Wireless plus USB connectivity
• Confirmed in stock at the listed buybox price

Cons

• The advertised ₹9,899 effective price depends on a coupon and bank discount that could not be verified; the confirmed price is ₹11,999
• Modest print speeds (12 ppm black / 5 ppm colour) and no automatic duplex or ADF mentioned
• In-box page-yield figures differ between the advertised claim (6,000 black) and the Amazon listing title (4,000 black)

Buyer fit

This suits students, families and home offices that print regularly and want cheap per-page costs more than speed or advanced features like duplexing or an automatic document feeder. If you print only occasionally, a cheaper cartridge printer may be simpler; if you need fast multi-page scanning, look at models with an ADF.

Final verdict

The HP Smart Tank 589 is a sensible high-volume home printer, and ₹11,999 on Amazon India is a reasonable confirmed price for an in-stock, fulfilled unit. Treat the advertised ₹9,899 as a best-case effective price that relies on a coupon plus a bank offer — check the payment offers at checkout before assuming you will get it. Worth buying if you need a low-running-cost all-in-one now; confirm your bank's discount eligibility first.
