Quick facts

Product overview

The Addison Open Book Shelf from Home Centre is a large open bookshelf designed to add organised display storage to living rooms, studies, or bedrooms. At 157.5 cm wide and 89 cm tall, it offers considerable surface area for books, décor, and everyday items without taking up much depth (30 cm).

Construction is MDF (medium-density fibreboard) with a matte melamine prelam surface. Melamine prelam finishes offer reasonable resistance to everyday scratches, stains, and heat — practical for a surface that will hold books, plants, or cups. The brown colourway suits both warm-toned and neutral interiors. Home Centre backs the shelf with a 1-year manufacturer warranty.

The Amazon buy-box confirms a selling price of ₹3,712. The MRP of ₹19,997 and the 81% discount figure are advertised by the deal source; Amazon's structured pricing data did not independently surface the MRP, so the exact percentage off should be treated as advertised rather than independently verified.

Reasons to consider

• Confirmed low price: Amazon's buy-box shows ₹3,712 as the current selling price — not a tracker estimate.
• Large shelving footprint: At over 157 cm wide, you get substantial open shelving at a low price point.
• Practical finish: Matte melamine prelam resists light scratches and stains, making it more durable than bare MDF.
• Amazon fulfilment: Ships from Amazon, so returns and delivery are handled through Amazon's standard process.
• 1-year warranty: Manufacturer coverage adds a baseline of after-sales protection.

Pros and cons

Pros

• Buy-box price of ₹3,712 confirmed on Amazon at time of research
• Wide, open design suits books, décor, and display storage
• Scratch-, stain-, and heat-resistant melamine surface
• Amazon-fulfilled with fast delivery options
• 1-year warranty included

Cons

• MDF/engineered wood, not solid wood — long-term durability is lower than hardwood
• Open shelving means dust accumulation on displayed items
• MRP of ₹19,997 is from the advertised source; Amazon did not independently confirm it in structured data, so the exact discount percentage is advertised, not verified
• Colour may vary slightly from photos due to lighting and screen settings (per product disclaimer)
• Assembly likely required (common for flat-pack furniture at this price)

Buyer fit

This shelf suits buyers who need wide, open storage on a budget — students, renters, or anyone furnishing a study or living room without spending on solid wood. If you want a large display unit and are comfortable with MDF construction and open shelving, this is worth considering. Buyers who need enclosed storage, solid wood, or a very specific colour match should look elsewhere. The Amazon fulfilment and 1-year warranty reduce purchase risk meaningfully at this price.

Final verdict

At ₹3,712 — confirmed by Amazon's buy-box — the Home Centre Addison Open Book Shelf offers a lot of shelf space for the money. The advertised 81% discount off ₹19,997 MRP cannot be independently verified from Amazon's structured data, but the selling price itself is confirmed. If you need a large open bookshelf and are comfortable with engineered wood construction, this is a practical buy at this price point. Measure your space against the 157.5 cm × 30 cm × 89 cm footprint before adding to cart.
