Flipkart: HOMEBASIC 1500W Immersion Water Heater Rod Listed at ₹298 (85% Off ₹1,999 MRP)

At a glance

A HOMEBASIC 1500W immersion water heater rod is advertised at ₹298 on Flipkart, against a claimed ₹1,999 MRP — an advertised 85% discount. The live Flipkart product page displays the same ₹298 figure under a "Big Billion Days Price" banner, plus a "Buy at ₹283" line tied to bank offers. However, structured price extraction from the page did not return a bound selling price, so treat ₹298 as the listed price and re-check it on the product page before ordering.

Product overview

This is a budget immersion rod — a simple resistive heater you dip into a bucket of water. The listing specifies a 1500W nickel-coated copper tubular heating element, rated for AC 230V/50Hz, intended for bathroom and kitchen use. The specifications note it requires proper earthing and must be immersed up to the marked water level before switching on. Flipkart's page advertises quick heating and a shock-proof design, and lists a 6-month domestic warranty.

Reasons to consider

• Very low entry price. Even for a budget immersion rod, ₹298 is near the bottom of the category; comparable 1500–2000W rods shown alongside it in the same listing run ₹285–₹478.
• Bank-offer kicker. The page shows "Buy at ₹283" when eligible offers apply, trimming another ₹15.
• Practical specs for the price. 1500W is adequate for a standard bucket; a copper element with nickel coating is the normal construction at this tier.
• Marketplace protections. 7-day replacement, COD availability, and a stated 6-month warranty reduce risk on a purchase this cheap.

Pros and cons

Pros

• Listed price of ₹298 is extremely cheap for a 1500W rod
• Copper tubular element with nickel coating, per the spec sheet
• COD and 7-day replacement available

Cons

• Brand is little-known; the 3.7/5 rating is mediocre and based on only 12 ratings
• MRP of ₹1,999 looks inflated — 85% off is partly a paper discount
• Structured price data could not be confirmed; the ₹298 figure is observed on the page but not verified as the current bound selling price
• Only 6 months warranty; immersion rods are safety-sensitive items

Buyer fit

This suits someone who needs a cheap, functional immersion rod for occasional bucket heating — a hostel room, rented flat, or backup heater — and is comfortable buying an unbranded item with a short warranty. If you heat water daily or want stronger safety assurance and longer coverage, a branded rod from an established appliance maker will cost more but is a safer spend.

Final verdict

If you need a basic immersion rod and the ₹298 listing is still live when you check, this is a reasonable low-risk buy given COD and 7-day replacement — but the ₹1,999 MRP and "85% off" framing overstate the saving, and the sub-4 rating plus 6-month warranty reflect its budget nature. Verify the price and the seller (IRISTECHONLINE) on the product page before paying, and always follow the earthing and immersion-level instructions.
