Product overview

The WD Blue SN5100 is Western Digital's mainstream PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drive in the standard M.2 2280 size, aimed at laptops and desktops with a Gen4-capable M.2 slot. The listing advertises sequential reads of up to 7,100MB/s, which is near the practical ceiling for Gen4 drives, and it carries a 5-year warranty. The 1TB capacity suits an OS-plus-games boot drive or a roomy secondary drive. The advertised "upto" speed is a ceiling figure for the best-case sequential read, not a guaranteed everyday rate; real-world speeds vary with workload, drive fill level and host hardware.

Reasons to consider

• Gen4 speeds close to the interface's practical limit, a large step up over Gen3 drives for large file transfers and load times.
• 1TB capacity balances usable space and cost for most users.
• 5-year warranty from Western Digital gives decent long-term cover.
• Amazon fulfilled listing simplifies delivery and returns in India.

Pros and cons

Pros

• Up to 7,100MB/s advertised sequential reads
• Standard M.2 2280 fit works in most modern laptops and desktops
• 5-year manufacturer warranty
• Price confirmed on the merchant page at ₹18,900 and in stock

Cons

• Pricing is not obviously aggressive versus competing Gen4 drives, which frequently dip lower per TB during sales
• No visible MRP or discount on the page, so the "deal" framing is unverified — this may simply be the going rate
• High-end Gen4 drives can run warm; thin laptops may benefit from a heatsink
• "Upto" speeds are peak sequential figures, not sustained or random performance guarantees

Buyer fit

Good fit for anyone upgrading a Gen4-equipped laptop or PC who specifically wants this WD Blue model and values the 5-year warranty. Buyers chasing the lowest cost per TB should comparison-shop — rival 1TB Gen4 drives regularly undercut this price, so it is only a strong buy if you prefer WD or see a further drop.

Final verdict

The ₹18,900 price is confirmed on Amazon's page and the drive is in stock, so the listing is genuine — but with no MRP or discount shown, treat this as the current price rather than a special offer. Worth buying at this price if you want the SN5100 specifically; otherwise wait for a sale or compare rival 1TB Gen4 drives before spending.
